Kaliningrad zoo
26 Prospekt Mira

History

One of the places Kaliningrad can certainly be proud of is its Zoo. Kaliningrad Zoo, a successor of the Prussian zoological park, one of the first and few parks in Europe, is among the largest ones in Russia, trailing only the zoos of the capital. Most significantly, and nowadays the zoo in technical equipment is not behind its much richer “brothers” located in the capital and has modern enclosures for animals, a monkey house. Kaliningrad Zoo offers chances to see animals, in particular marine animals, that cannot be found in the zoos of the capital. The zoo also hospitably opens its doors for various cultural projects: the museum night, city festivals and others. The zoo serves as an educational and scientific center as well that regularly holds international conferences and seminars.
